According to a new report by KGI, Apple will soon introduce a stylus accessory for its iPad products, targeted at the expected (but still officially unconfirmed) larger-screened ~12 inch iPad Pro. Both products are quoted for release sometime this year, with KGI most recently quoting a Q2 launch window. The stylus would apparently charge using a Lightning cable. Although KGI reports tend to be based off of supply-chain sources, which have proven very reliable in the past, Ming-Chi Kuo does not allude to any such indicators for the stylus prediction report....

The main product offered on this Kickstarter campaign is just another powered case (albeit a pretty-looking one) – but it was the ‘Magsafe for iPhone’ adapter three-quarters of the way down the page that caught my eye. Plug in a slim adapter to the Lightning socket of your iPhone, plug in an adapter to your Lightning cable and you have the equivalent of a MagSafe connection on your phone. It’s a neat idea, but sadly not one that is likely to survive scrutiny by Apple’s lawyers – at least, not using ‘MagSafe for iPhone’ as the description....

In a research note released today, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the iPhone 13 lineup will bring 5G mmWave (millimeter wave) to more countries. The iPhone 12 supports 5G worldwide in every country, it is sold but the mmWave antenna is only included on the iPhone 12 models sold inside the United States. mmWave coverage is limited but if you can find it, users report multi-gigabit download speeds. The two strands of 5G is sub-6GHz and mmWave....

Gigantic dinosaurs may soon be roaming the planet once again — at least on iOS and Android. Universal Studios and Montreal-based video game company Ludia have teamed up to create Jurassic World Alive. The title is a new augmented reality game launching this spring, and the premise is similar to Niantic’s Pokémon GO. Players will walk around in the game on a map based on your current location to discover dinosaurs and collect their eggs....

This year has no shortage of massive franchise installments and blockbusters, but one of the largest on the horizon is Justice League. Zack Snyder’s third installment in the DC Extended Universe is set to bring various superheroes together, including Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. Superman is also going to be part of the proceedings, though the character has been absent from the marketing materials thus far. This probably has to do with the way his arc ended in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and his resurrection is meant to be a surprise for the audience....

Sam Elliott’s villain in Justified season 6 reminded everybody just how good the veteran actor can be. Sam Elliott is instantly recognizable due to his trademark mustache and deep voice, and he’s appeared in just about every genre imaginable, from drama to comedy and comic book movies. His most iconic roles is probably The Stranger from The Big Lebowski, who acts as the narrator of the Coen brothers oddball comedy. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities is out today with a new investor note, offering up some more information about what’s in store for the Mac lineup in 2017. Kuo claims that all MacBook models will be upgraded in 2017 with Intel’s latest Kaby Lake chipset, while there will also be a new 32GB RAM option for the 15-inch model. Intel just announced its 7th generation Kaby Lake processors at CES and Kuo predicts that the first model that will see the upgraded chip will be the 12-inch MacBook....

Disney executives are reportedly worried Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit will alienate fans of the Mouse House when it opens later this year. Based on the novel Caging Skies, Jojo Rabbit tells the story Jojo Betzler, a Hitler youth who discovers his mother is hiding a young Jewish girl in their home. As one might expect, this makes life quite confusing for Jojo, whose closest companion is his imaginary friend, a fictionalized version of Adolf Hitler....

Joker’s box office success proves Marvel isn’t the only way when it comes to comic book films. From the time it was announced, it was clear Todd Phillips’ Joker was going to be a change-of-pace for the genre. Drawing heavily from Martin Scorsese classics like Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy (among other notable influences), the film is much more of a psychological character study than a spectacle-driven tentpole. It also made headlines for being completely separate from any shared universe, operating independently of the already established DCEU (which had a Joker, played by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad)....

Billionaire Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s patent trolling lawsuit filed against Apple, Facebook, Google, YouTube and others has been dismissed by the courts. “Plaintiff has failed to identify the infringing products or devices with any specificity,” wrote U.S. District Court Judge Marsha Pechman in her order to dismiss. “The Court and Defendants are left to guess what devices infringe on the four patents. Allen was claiming that the companies had violated four patents developed by Internal Research (a research firm he funded)....

Remember that class-action lawsuit alleging AppleCare+ customers were being given subpar replacement products? This week a federal judge rejected the case while calling the plantiffs’ lawyer “manifestly incompetent” and suggesting the counsel orchestrated the entire case. ArsTechnica reports the judge’s rejection this week claimed the lawyer encouraged the plaintiffs to purchase AppleCare plans and record interactions with Apple employees “for the purpose of initiating this lawsuit.” But none of the plaintiffs were disgruntled consumers who went looking for a lawyer after getting bad service....

Today at CES 2017, Kanex announced its new GoPlay Series of portable wireless game controllers for iOS and tvOS. The first release in the series, the GoPlay SideKick, is a pocket-sized wireless gaming controller that works with the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. The GoPlay SideKick is MFi-certified, and hence will work with most of the games available on the App Store with built-in support for MFi controllers. The SideKick features a 20-hour rechargeable battery and features Bluetooth 4....

Reliable Apple analyst KGI has published a report on Saturday outlining their predictions for Apple’s Mac roadmap ahead of the media event on October 27th. The report says that Apple will launch three new MacBooks at the event, a new 13 inch MacBook, a new 13 inch MacBook Pro and a new 15 inch MacBook Pro. It goes on to say that new iMacs and the Apple external display will not be shipping this year; those should be expected in the first half of 2017....

The MonsterVerse made two significant changes to the traditional King Kong story with Kong: Skull Island. Released in 2017, Legendary and Warner Bros.’ Kong: Skull Island serves as the latest live-action movie centered around the American pop culture icon, and the second installment in the burgeoning MonsterVerse that also includes 2014’s Godzilla and 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. In the latest TF Securities report from Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple analyst estimates the cost of adding 5G to this year’s iPhone. Kuo believes it will cost Apple about $75 per unit for sub-6GHz 5G support, and up to $125 for millimeter wave 5G. Kuo does not expect Apple to pass on all of the cost increases to the consumer sale price of the iPhone 12. That means Apple is looking to offset 5G component costs by looking for cost savings elsewhere in the phone....

Shyamalan will answer questions about the show and the horror genre on Thursday, February 11. The announcement was made on Servant‘s official Twitter profile. The Reddit AMA with M. Night Shyamalan comes one day before the premiere of episode 5 for the second season of Servant and also follows episode 4, which was directed by Shyamalan himself....
