The new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X will support wireless inductive charging standards, however, which means customers will be able to buy third party Qi chargers (like these) to take advantage of the hardware feature. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo at KGI Securities is out today with a new note concerning demand for the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Ultimately, Kuo says that shipment volume for the iPhone 7 Plus is better than expected, though iPhone 7 shipment volume is lower than that of the iPhone 6s. One contributing factor to iPhone 7 Plus shipments being higher than expected is the Galaxy Note 7’s exploding battery recall....

NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gigi Bryant were laid to rest two weeks after their tragic helicopter crash. The world is still in mourning after losing a true sports hero and his beloved daughter that hadn’t even had a chance to fulfill her greatness. It was revealed last October that Apple would be sponsoring this year’s Met Gala, with Jony Ive serving as a co-chair of the event. MCX is the merchant consortium that was behind the QR code-based mobile payment service that ultimately never launched, and today JPMorgan Chase announced that it has acquired MCX’s payment technology. Chase was one of a few major banks to partner with Apple when Apple Pay launched back in the fall of 2014, but several retailers including CVS and Walmart blocked or denied plans to accept Apple Pay due to an upcoming CurrentC app and commitments to MCX....

Reliable Apple analyst KGI Ming-Chi Kuo is reporting that they believe Apple is looking to leapfrog its existing Touch ID sensor, first introduced in 2013 with the iPhone 5s and refined with a 2x faster sensor for iPhone 6s, to instead rely on several new biometric technologies, which will enable new iPhones and iPads to feature ‘zero bezel’ designs. The current Touch ID is a capacitive sensor, KGI believes the company will supplant it with a new optical fingerprint sensor as well as facial recognition sensors....
