It’s also structurally perfect, and strikes just the right balance between humor and suspense. Subsequently, Spielberg immediately transformed the nature of the franchise with The Lost World. The series welcomed more elements of monster movies, and the third entry is often maligned for that reason....

As of yesterday, security company Symantec released a statement claiming there were still 140,000 Macs infected from the recent Flashback malware outbreak that originally infected an estimated 600,000 Mac users. That was despite Apple issuing a Java security update to remove the malware. Today, security researchers from Kaspersky said during a press conference (via Ars Technica) that it estimated infections dropped to 30,000, while still warning more “mass-malware” on OS X is on the way:...

A teaser for Kathryn Bigelow’s film Detroit is here, ahead of the movie’s full trailer arriving tomorrow. Bigelow and Detroit screenwriter Mark Boal previously tackled the Iraq War with The Hurt Locker and the hunt for Osama Bin Laden with Zero Dark Thirty. The result: 14 total Oscar nominations and 7 wins, 6 of those statues being awarded to The Hurt Locker including one for Best Picture, one or Bigelow for Best Director (making her the first woman to win that award) and one for Boal for Best Original Screenplay....

Reliable Apple analyst MIng-Chi Kuo is out with a new investor note today that offers a timeline on Apple’s switch to mini-LED technology. According to the analyst, mini LED will come to the iPad and MacBook line starting next year. Kuo predicts that Apple will bring mini LED to 4-6 products over time, but that the switch over will start with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in Q3 2020. Kuo says that this iPad Pro model will feature the mini LED display as well as a more powerful A14X processor....

Johnny Depp is producing a Michael Jackson musical from the perspective of the famed performer’s glove. Jackson, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 50, was notorious for often-bizarre celebrity behavior, which led in later years to large-scale sexual abuse scandals. Throughout the King of Pop’s on again, off again controversies involving young boys, many fans stood by his side and refused to believe the accusations, but in the years after he passed away, new accusations began to surface from two of the young boys (now grown men) who had once been at the centre of the allegations....

Warner Bros. upcoming DC film Joker contains at least one reference to the DCEU, and more specifically Batman v Superman. Under the direction of Todd Phillips, Joker sees Joaquin Phoenix tackle the role of the mentally unstable Arthur Fleck, who over the course of the film becomes Gotham City’s Clown Prince of Crime known as The Joker. The film recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival, with Phoenix’s performance already receiving Oscar buzz....

On April 28th, the boy went to Chenzhou City in neighboring Hunan Province for the kidney removal surgery arranged by the broker. He was paid 22,000 yuan (an extra 2,000–) or $3,400 after his right kidney was taken out at Chenzhou’s famous No. 198 Hospital. His mom later found out (probably because he was rocking a new white iPad 2 and a huge scar) and called the police....

Rian Johnson may be attending the 92nd Academy Awards as a nominee for Knives Out, but it looks like he’ll be taking a bit of Star Wars: The Last Jedi with him for good luck. Just a few hours before the red carpet, Johnson posted a picture wearing a porg-shaped cufflink, an homage to the puffin-like creatures in the Star Wars film he wrote and directed. Knives Out is nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 2020 Oscars, and both critics and audiences have praised the comic murder mystery....

There have been many adaptations of the classic novel but 1993’s Journey To The Center Of The Earth by NBC has to be the worst. The book was written by Jules Verne, who also penned classic adventures Around The World In 80 Days and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The plot of the book finds a professor and his companions undertaking an expedition into the Earth via some volcanic tubes, and they encounter various dangers and prehistoric creatures along the way....

A federal juge ruled on Tuesday that AT&T can proceed with its $85.4 billion acquisition of Time Warner. Judge Richard Leon ruled the deal is legal and he did not impose any conditions on the merger. Today’s ruling comes as part of the antitrust lawsuit levied by the Justice Department last year. Now that the merger has been given the go ahead, AT&T will add Time Warner’s content to its existing paid TV subscription....

Generally reliable KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has today shared an investment note in which he breaks down what Apple will do in terms of its smartphones come 2016. In the note, Kuo claims that Apple is still working on a refreshed 4-inch iPhone model… Kuo says that the 4-inch iPhone “resembles an upgraded iPhone 5s” and features an A9 processor. The design of the device is somewhat unclear from Kuo’s report, but he hints that it will feature a metal casing as opposed to the plastic design featured on the iPhone 5c....

Killing Zac Efron is a new adventure series coming to Quibi. The 32-year-old star is often best known for his heartthrob status and six-pack abs, though he has managed a pretty solid acting resume over the years since he first made a name for himself. Most recently, Efron starred as serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. The film generally failed to garner much acclaim from either audiences or critics, but Efron’s performance was often cited as a high point in what was otherwise a somewhat unremarkable production....

King Arthur and his famed sword, Excalibur are timeless legends. There has been no shortage of movie adaptations of these stories. Animated features like Disney’s classic The Sword in the Stone have taken a stab at the mythology, and soon Michael Bay may also bring elements of it into Transformers: The Last Knight. However, Warner Bros. is hoping they have the definitive take with King Arthur: Legend of the Sword , which releases later this year....
