We’ve written about former Apple employee Wayne Goodrich before. Back in 2012 he launched a lawsuit against Apple claiming that co-founder Steve Jobs told him in 2005 he’d be guaranteed a job for life at the company. That was after being fired by Apple a year after Jobs’ death despite his guarantee of job security. Now, Goodrich, who was an executive producer of public presentations and with Apple for almost 20 years, has been given the go ahead for the lawsuit by a judge in Santa Clara (via BizJournals):...

A federal judge has ruled that Apple has to face a lawsuit accusing the company of hiding the fact that iPhone demand in China was declining, leading to “tens of billions of dollars in shareholder losses.” The specific focus is on the comments made by Apple CEO Tim Cook during Apple’s fiscal Q4 2018 earnings call, Reuters reports. As a recap, Apple was forced to revise its Q1 2019 earnings guidance due to “fewer iPhone upgrades” and significant demand problems in China....

A new fan-made trailer for Justice League is the heavy-metal Snyder Cut of the film that fans have been waiting for. KGI has published a new research note indicating that the 27″ model of the new “Retina” iMac will begin shipping before the end of this year. Kingdom Hearts 3 returns the Gummi Ship, an intergalactic spaceship Sora, Donald, and Goofy use to travel between the various Disney Worlds. Here’s a guide for beginners on how to best use them. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is out this evening with a new investor note covering early order estimates of Samsung’s Galaxy S10. The analyst is increasing his Galaxy S10 shipment estimate by 30 percent citing ‘spec differentiation’ from current iPhones, including an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. Kuo says that he is increasing shipping estimates of the Galaxy S10 series from between 30 million and 35 million to between 40 million and 45 million. He outlines three reasons for this: the market’s view on high-end smartphone sales, spec differentiation from iPhone models, trade-in programs, and strong demand in China....

Joker director Todd Phillips gave new insight into Joaquin Phoenix’s improvisational acting style, which resulted in some of the movie’s most memorable scenes as well as a truly “insane” deleted scene. Joker recently became the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, beating out Deadpool for the honors. The movie was critically acclaimed for its unique approach to the superhero genre, eschewing set pieces and fight scenes for an intimate character study. The story follows Arthur Fleck’s descent into madness as The Joker and features cinematic references to the Robert De Niro films King of Comedy and Taxi Driver....

DC’s Joker star Joaquin Phoenix is apparently an incredibly nice guy in real-life, since he tracked down the drivers of a paramedic truck he hit in West Hollywood. Phoenix is best-known right now for being the latest in a line of actors to take on the role of the Joker, for which he’s received quite a lot of praise from fans and critics alike. He’s even been compared to the untouchable performance given by Heath Ledger in 2008’s The Dark Knight....

Apple SVP of Industrial DesignJony Ive is making the rounds in London for the Olympics this week. Yesterday he spoke on Apple’s design process and the ‘Bankruptcy Days’ at the British Embassy’s Creative Summit. Today more of what he’s has said was revealed by the Independent and the following quotes stand out: “There were multiple times where we nearly shelved the phone because we thought there were fundamental problems that we can’t solve,” said Sir Jony, speaking at a British Business Embassy event to coincide with the Olympics....

The class-action lawsuit against Apple over alleged anticompetitive behavior in how the iPod handled songs from third-party much stores is finally in the hands of a jury. Following last week’s final witness testimony, the jury has started deliberations in the decade-old case. The evidence and testimony in this case have given us quite a bit of insight into the way Apple operated ten years ago with regards to its iPod and iTunes business....

Jussie Smollett has been officially removed from Empire’s remaining season 5 episodes. On February 20, the actor was charged with felony disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false report about a January 29 attack in Chicago. Since 2015, Smollett has appeared as Jamal Lyon on Fox’s musical drama. The character’s sexuality is a main storyline in season 1, and Smollett clarified his own sexuality during a March 2015 interview with Ellen DeGeneres....
