Kim Kardashian attended a cringe-worthy improv class with Scott Disick during a recent taping of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The longtime friends were guest students at the famed Groundlings school in Hollywood. Many notable comedy stars ranging from Dax Shepard to Maya Rudolph are graduates of the program there.
Kim got nervous in front of a crowd, which is commonplace for the reality TV star. Fans might remember the time the mom of four was pulled on stage by pop legend Prince during one of his concerts back in 2011. His expectation was that Kim - who is known for her ample assets - would be able to bump and grind with the best of them. Much to his chagrin, Kim awkwardly bopped to the music for a second before Prince jokingly kicked her off the stage. So being put on the spot isn’t exactly part of her repertoire. Improv training could prove helpful to Kim in the future. After all, public speaking, quick thinking, and emoting are necessary components in any good lawyer’s arsenal. Kim is currently studying law, so improv could really help her down the line with opening and closing statements.
Improv is a style of acting that requires performers to follow its golden rule: “Yes, and…” This means that during scenes, whatever one actor says or does, the other actor has to agree, go along with the scenario, and add on to it. However, for Kim, her foray into improvisational acting was less-than-stellar. The duo was invited to participate in the class warm-up. Scott appeared baffled by some of the exercises, while Kim succumbed to self-consciousness. She quickly chickened out and darted off the stage, taking a seat in one of the empty audience chairs. This left Scott to finish the warm-up on stage alone, check out the full clip below:
Later, he and his partner were given a task to tell a story during an exercise called “Expert Panel” about the invention of the first shoe. Scott rose to the challenge, portraying a man recounting his invention to the audience alongside his fictitious wife. “It’s funny, I know that all of you are wearing exactly what I invented a very, very, very, very, very long time ago. And it was difficult. Very manly. As you can notice, my hand still didn’t get hurt because you were nice enough to lick the wound every night,” said Scott’s made-up alter ego, Bill Todd. At the end of his scene, Scott’s partner praised his quick wit: “That was, like, dripping out of you like water from a faucet.” Meanwhile, this wasn’t the first time It’s a bummer to see that Kim was too self-conscious to do her thing on the Groundlings stage. After all, she has appeared in numerous films, and she’s been a reality TV star for more than a decade. However, Scott’s onstage excellence is a pleasant surprise. He appeared completely at ease delving into his characterization of a guy with a ridiculous knowledge about shoes.
Not only that, but Disick was actually charismatic in the process. While Lord Disick may never be the type of guy to go pro with these skills, it’s impressive that he held his own among the students at this prestigious school. Maybe in the future, if Saturday Night Live ever comes calling, he can dust off his old Todd Kraines impression from season 8 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and add to it his newfound improv training.
