At the best of times, King Namor of Atlantis is a hard man to deal with (and in possession of a serious temper, and a worryingly short fuse). But when a sacred creature of his realm is revealed to be in distress, he’s willing to put the entire world in danger… when Atlantis Attacks in Marvel Comics.
The miniseries is spinning directly out of the events of Agents of Atlas, beginning with its introduction of “The Serpent in the Tower.” As Marvel Comic readers already know, The War of the Realms saw a new team of young heroes recruited by The Atlas Foundation, to be led by Amadeus Cho, the formerly-totally-awesome-Hulk, and with the specific purpose of protecting the Pacific Rim from destruction. They became the New Agents of Atlas, but since then, things have been changing. And in Atlantis Attacks #1, fans are realizing just how far things have escalated.
The Agents of Atlas series introduced billionaire Mike Nguyen, founder of the pan-Asian Portal City of Pan, granting instantaneous travel to anyone in possession of a ‘Pan Pass,’ using their own proprietary golden gates. While Nguyen claimed to have built the city for the greater good, the Agents of Atlas set out to learn the truth behind the strange dragon attacks threatening the city. When Amadeus, Shang-Chi, Silk, and Wave broke into Nguyen’s tower to uncover the truth, they realized the magic that made the city possible stemmed from a captive, tormented dragon… hailing from the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. Now King Namor is out for revenge… and only the Agents of Atlas have a chance of staying his rage while they come up with a new plan to keep the surface world in balance.
