Kim Kardashian and Kanye West of Keeping Up with the Kardashians gifted daughter North Michael Jackson’s jacket for Christmas. While most kids are happy with toys, for North West, only the King of Pop’s most famous duds would do.
Christmas for the Kardashians has always been a lively time of celebration. This year, grandmother Kris gifted Stormi Webster her very own two-story playhouse, much to the delight and gratitude of Kylie Jenner. Kourtney Kardashian threw the family a lively holiday party, catered to the nines and topped off with a live performance by singer/songwriter Sia. North’s gift, while exorbitant, is certainly not out of the ordinary for the family.
The jacket was worn by Jackson on a social outing with his best friend, Elizabeth Taylor. In the jacket pockets is proof of the garment’s provenance: a photo of Jackson wearing it while out with the late Oscar-winning actress. Kim and Kanye won the jacket for their daughter at an auction and decided Christmas would be the ideal time to give it to her. One might think that the famous parents would frame the jacket, but not the West family. Kim notes that she had the sleeves taken up a bit so that her daughter can enjoy the piece now. She also said that North can adjust the hem with age so that the jacket can be worn as she grows. The West’s eldest daughter will be able to dress up the velvet outerwear, which is adorned with crowns on the lapel, a red band on the right arm, and a flourish of embellishment from the right shoulder to the left breast, see the post below (via @KimKardashianSnap)
Kardashian West explained in the video, “We knew she would love this.” The reality star mom went on to say, “She’s so grateful and excited.” North is a huge Michael Jackson fan, so Kardashian and West felt the gift would be a great fit for their daughter. Ever since she was a toddler, North has flocked towards beauty products and clothing, showing that she is likely to follow in her sartorial parents’ footsteps.
It’s a bit extravagant to buy a child an expensive piece of Rock ’n’ Roll lore, only to have her parade around in it as dress-up attire. However, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars aren’t known for their modesty. It’s also surprising that this gift was given to their six-year-old child, considering Kanye’s current proselytizing and speaking out about a more modest lifestyle for himself and his family.
