Inspired by Luke Jennings’s Codename: Villanelle novella series, Killing Eve season 1 launched to popular and critical acclaim. The series stars Sandra Oh as MI5 agent Eve Polastri and Jodie Comer as the psychopathic assassin Villanelle; the chemistry between the two women is absolutely electric, each becoming increasingly obsessed with the other and committing to an insane game of cat-and-mouse.
Killing Eve proved to be a hit, with a Rotten Tomatoes critic score that currently stands at 96 percent and an audience score of 89 percent. It capped its first season with an unbroken record of weekly ratings growth in the key adults 25-54 and 18-40 demographics - something no other TV show has accomplished in more than a decade. It became the second-biggest boxset to air on BBC iPlayer, with more than 40 million requests since it arrived on the streaming service, and it’s been showered with awards.
The BBC clearly knew they had a surefire success on their hands, and BBC America renewed Killing Eve for a second season before the premiere had even aired. But what’s known about Killing Eve season 2 to date?

What Will Killing Eve Season 2’s Story Be?
The first season of Killing Eve ended with Eve successfully tracking Villanelle to her apartment in France and stabbing her in the gut with a switch knife. The trailers have already confirmed that Killing Eve season 2 will pick up where the finale left off, with a wounded Villanelle on the run and Eve calling her old boss at MI5 for help and advice.
According to Comer, this experience will shake Villanelle to her core. “She’s never in this situation—she’s not in control at all,” she explained in an interview with Glamour. “It was great to play that; for someone who is always on top, she’s very much on the bottom of the food chain.” But it won’t take long for Villanelle to get back on her feet and to work getting revenge. “Villanelle is still very creative in her kills, when she gets back on track,” Comer promised.
Three new actors are joining the cast for Killing Eve season 2: Nina Sosanya (Good Omens), Edward Bluemel (A Discovery of Witches), and Julian Barratt (Mindhorn). Their roles are unconfirmed.

Will There Be A Killing Eve Season 3?
BBC America seems likely to renew Killing Eve for season 3. Producers Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris have confirmed they have ideas that could keep the show going for a long time to come; Gentle told the Daily Star, “If you made it up in the first place, you can make it up again. So I think it can go on, and on, and on – you just have to refresh it all the time.”
