Actor-comedian Ken Jeong has shared excerpts of a message chain with former co-stars Gillian Jacobs and Yvette Nicole Brown in which they reminisce about their time on the TV series Community. Community was a series which first aired on NBC and followed the members of a study group at a local community college. While the premise of the show may have sounded innocuous, Community was anything but. The show, created by Dan Harmon, became known for lovable characters, sharp writing, high-concept episodes, and out-of-this-world genre parodies.

While critically-acclaimed and loved by its viewers, Community had a tumultuous time staying on the air. Throughout its run there were several close calls with Community’s cancellation, including the time Dan Harmon was fired and then subsequently rehired again, and the show even spent a semester on Yahoo’s digital streaming platform. Despite all this, fans were given six seasons, fulfilling the first part of the “Six seasons and a movie” slogan the show popularized. Six phenomenal seasons, not including the “gas leak year.”

From Jeong’s recent tweets, it seems the Community cast also looks back fondly on their time in the show. In the first of three messages, Jeong reposts a video of a sleeping baby who is having a Community-themed lullaby being sung to him. The lullaby first aired on Community season 3, episode 17, “Basic Lupine Urology.” The original video clip is included in Jeong’s second tweet. In the video, Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) are getting ready to sleep in their bunk beds, while Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) brings them glasses of warm milk. As the Dean delivers the milk, he sings them a sweet but creepy, personalized lullaby, and the two fall asleep. All the while, Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) watches, not entirely sure how to take it. The third tweet Ken Jeong posts is a screenshot of a group chat in which Jeong, Jacobs, and Brown discuss the lullaby scene. Take a look below:

In the group chat, Gillian Jacobs asks plot-related questions about the scene, like why Shirley is even there when the Dean sings Troy and Abed to sleep. Yvette Nicole Brown offers up possible reasons for her character, and Ken Jeong jokes Jacobs should “stop asking script questions.” Jacobs cleverly retorts this is the same thing she heard often from Jeong on the set of Dr. Ken, a show Jeong created and in which Jacobs guest-starred.

It’s great to know members of the Community cast still keep in touch. The study group and the relationship between the group members was at the core of the hilarious sitcom. The lullaby clip and the interactions between the former cast members are reminders of just how “streets ahead” the humor on Community was. The show may have been canceled, but it lives on through fans and creators alike. There are still many out there waiting for the promised movie. While this may seem like a long shot, Community has made many comebacks before and has been through worse, so it can’t be ruled out yet. Until then, sweet deans.
