The Keeping Up With the Kardashians food fight was recently slammed by fans for being wasteful. The show’s promo was posted on Khloe Kardashian’s Instagram page.
Fans of Keeping Up With the Kardashians are anything but amused by a video of the family’s recent food fight. In the clip, Khloe narrates the happenings in a taped confessional. The video then cuts to the actual fight, in which Kourtney, Khloe, Kris, and Kim can be seen pelting each other with pasta and salad. At one point, Kim appears with a pitcher of what looks like iced tea, and sneaks up on her relatives with it. Corey Gamble even makes a small cameo, but isn’t seen throwing any food in the clip.
Khloe captioned the video with, “You messed with the wrong b*tch, @krisjenner We’re back this Sunday! Watch a new episode of Keeping Up, Sunday 9/8c on E!” Fans and followers were not amused. An onslaught of negativity began to fill the comments section of Kardashian’s page. One follower wrote “don’t waste the foooooood.” Another commented, “Meanwhile, other people have nothing to eat. Good for you, Kardashians.” Despite the icy reception in the comments field, the video - to date - has garnered nearly half a million Likes. The video has since been removed.
The internet has been a harsh mirror for the family in recent years. In 2016, Kim Kardashian was targeted by thieves while visiting Paris, France. The criminals confessed that they used Kim’s social media posts to ascertain her wealth, as well as case her while in the European city. As a result, she scaled back traveling with expensive jewels and broadcasting her catalog of abundance online. While the robbery was not her fault, there is a psychology that exists today, in which the have-nots tend to vilify those who are monetarily blessed.
The Kardashians are normally a media-savvy family. Therefore, it’s in poor taste to see something so reckless wind up on any of the family members’ social media feeds. A food fight is tone-deaf and disrespectful in today’s socioeconomic climate. Throughout Los Angeles County, there are thousands of men, women, and children living in tent cities and homeless encampments. Sure, the Kardashians love to have fun. True, Kim is doing a lot to help with prison reform. However, it’s just not a good look to appear so wasteful. While a food fight is spontaneous and physically harmless fun, most people cannot afford to be so careless with nutritional resources. If the Kardashians can, then they should at least have the good sense not to splash it about the internet. The goal is to get people to watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians, not anger them into avoiding the show at all costs.
