Recode today reports that Kanye West might be making a full u-turn with his latest album by actually offering it to stream on Spotify and Apple Music. Just this week one of the tracks from the album hit Apple Music, further driving speculation that a full release was imminent.
This is a step in a very different direction from what West previously vocalized on Twitter about a month ago. Indicating that the album would never be available on Apple, West urged “friends fans and music lovers” to sign up to Tidal now.
With the album’s original release, there were many indications that the album had yet to have been finished. Yesterday a few Redditors noticed that West’s album had undergone significant musical changes on its current streaming platform Tidal. These latest changes, being the largest the album has experienced thus far, had many believing the album was reaching its completion.
After tweeting a stream of lyrics from one of his songs, Kanye also happened to post a link to ilovekanyesong.com. The site features direct links to the song as available from Tidal, Apple Music, and Spotify.

Outside of Kanye West’s album debacle, Tidal is still not without its own issues. Norwegian newspaper Dagens Naeringsliv is reporting that Jay Z is going after the previous owners of Tidal seeking compensation for under reporting the true number of subscribers to the service.
Update: The album is now propagating through Apple Music and Spotify.
