Justin Bieber offered a detailed breakdown of his 60+ tattoos during a December 30 Instagram post. The Canadian superstar was clearly feeling himself as he started with his wrists and offered a tour of his ink all the way to his shoulder, to start. Along the way, three of his biggest designs - an owl on his upper left arm, the word “believe” on his forearm, and a compass on his bicep - were unveiled. Bieber’s grand reveal was set to a soundtrack of “Earthquake” by Tyler the Creator.

As the show-and-tell session continued, Bieber showed off his designs of Jesus and a pair of praying hands, before detailing the ink on his chest.  He disclosed a large cross on his chest, as well as the words, “son of God” on his abdomen, which is a nod to his Christian faith. Bieber has been getting tattoos ever since he was 16 years old. His first was a tiny seagull on his left hip, which was an homage to the book Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Bieber also recently added a neck tattoo: a giant bird spreading its wings and the word “forever” written underneath in large script. His latest ink was completed by Dr. Woo, tattoo artist to the stars.

There is one tattoo that Bieber does regret, as he revealed to GQ (via Us Weekly): “This is my ex-girlfriend, I kinda tried to cover her face up with some shading, but people still know.” He’s referring to a picture of Selena Gomez that he inked on his body during their on-again/off-again love affair that began when they were both teenagers.

What’s behind the singer’s overshare? It’s likely free publicity, since he just dropped a new single called “Yummy” on January 3. The song is a sensual and upbeat jam that Bieber calls a love letter to his wife, Hailey. Shortly after the track dropped, she took to social media to rave about the song and her husband.  After all, he’s been teasing new music since 2019. Now fans have a new track and Bieber’s stunning visuals to go with it.

For Justin Bieber fans, a glimpse into his ink is a happy holiday treat. Watching him detail and recount his tattoos one-by-one displays the singer’s confidence - not only in his body, but in the art that adorns it. Although his wife Hailey was nowhere to be seen during the big reveal, Bieber’s tattoo-clad physique is clearly something he’s proud of and something that the young couple shares. Therefore, to offer it up to fans is a way to bring them one step closer into their relationship. Now, there are some detractors who may view Bieber’s video stunt as the ultimate thirst-trap. After all, it’s not everyday that someone just strips down on camera and says, “Hey world, check this out!” However, it’s his body. If he wants to showcase it in grand fashion, give the man what he wants.
