Zack Snyder chose four finalists in the Justice League fan poster competition. The contest is the latest major event in the ongoing and increasingly public push for the Justice League Snyder Cut. Though the topic has exploded into mainstream prominence in recent months (with the movie’s second anniversary marking a huge turning point), Snyder himself has taken on a much more centralized role in the matter.

Snyder announced the poster contest back in January. Per the instructions laid out for the competition, the winner is “the artist that best captures the spirit of the movie,” as Snyder himself put it. The contest received over 1,200 entries before the deadline.

In Snyder’s latest post on Vero, the director commented on the vast number of entries received and provided a timeline for the winner’s announcement. In his new post on the contest, Snyder stated, “First off, WOW!!! So many awesome submissions. Impossible to narrow it down, but after hours of deliberation landed on these 4 mind-blowing posters. Enjoy! Tomorrow I’ll show the prize, then on my birthday I’ll pick a winner.” Check out the posters of Snyder’s four finalists below.

With the Justice League reshoots having so drastically altered the movie from the version shot by Snyder, the four finalists each made an apparent effort to include elements known to be a part of the Snyder Cut. They included details like the presence of Darkseid (played by Ray Porter) and the inclusion of Superman’s famed black suit (an aspect of the Snyder Cut revealed by Snyder back in December). The new fan-made posters add to the emerging picture of a vastly different Justice League movie than the one that debuted in theaters in November 2017.

Since the theatrical debut of Justice League, Snyder has revealed a great deal about the differences between the two versions of the movie with an ongoing stream of storyboards and movie stills on social media. More recently, however, Snyder’s social media posts have offered a considerably more vivid peek behind the curtain, such as his reveal of General Swanwick being Martian Manhunter in disguise. Snyder’s more directly involved with the push for the Justice League Snyder Cut in recent months, even going so far as to put an end to the debate of the movie’s very existence by releasing an image of the actual Snyder Cut itself on Vero.

With the contest having its four finalists pinned down, this weekend is very likely to be heavy on Snyder Cut related chatter as the director unveils the prize tomorrow, and his pick for the winner on Sunday. Discussions about the unreleased director’s cut were already on the rise going into the weekend, following comments by director Leigh Whannell on the topic. With Zack Snyder choosing the fan-made poster that best embodies his version of the DC superhero ensemble, the Justice League Snyder Cut contest will send the internet into a frenzy once more.
