A new image from the Justice League Snyder Cut shared by original director Zack Snyder shows Cyborg (Ray Fisher) arriving at Star Labs to fight Steppenwolf. As the two-year anniversary of Justice League’s theatrical release nears, the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement is building. The last week has been filled with new looks at scenes removed from the theatrical version of the film, which was heavily retooled by Joss Whedon following Snyder’s exit.

Instead of the sporadic release of information that fans hoping to see the Snyder Cut have gotten used to, the most recent wave of updates have been frequent and part of a united push from fans and those involved with Justice League alike. While Jason Momoa continues to fan the flames behind the release of the Snyder Cut, his fellow castmate Ray Fisher provided another look at Cyborg’s cut scenes. Out of all the changes made between Snyder’s cut and the one that went to theaters, Cyborg’s role was arguably hurt the most. Instead of being the heart to the film, Cyborg was a background player that saw most of his potentially emotional story left on the cutting room floor.

With the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement highlighting Victor Stone today, Snyder joined in on the festivities and shared a new Cyborg image from his cut of Justice League on Vero. The photo shows Cyborg in the superhero landing pose after crashing through the ceiling of STAR Labs to face off with Steppenwolf. We can only see the back of the New God as he looks towards Cyborg, but his focus is on what lies behind him: Silas Stone and a Mother Box.

This image appears to be showing the beginning of a pivotal scene for Cyborg in the Snyder Cut, one which was heavily altered on a story level by Whedon. It is no secret that Snyder intended for Silas Stone to die in his version of Justice League, as evident by an image of Silas caught in an explosion from the Mother Box. This new image looks to be the beginning of his demise as Silas is in the same location and with the powerful box. It is unclear whether Silas accidentally triggers the explosion or if Steppenwolf is responsible for his death, but it is believed that this scene would conclude with Steppenwolf taking the final Mother Box here and Cyborg left crying. When laid out like this, it is easy to see how Cyborg’s role could be much more impactful in the Snyder Cut.

While this image does add more information on this cut scene, where it fits in the Snyder Cut and what it means for the rest of the plot is still a bit unclear. The theatrical cut of the movie had this Mother Box play a pivotal part in resurrecting Superman and then was taken by Steppenwolf following the league fighting Superman in Heroes Park. Snyder has not yet revealed how he intended to bring Superman back in his version of Justice League though, but this image could indicate that a different resurrection method could be used. Flash becomes part of this scene based on previous images, with Batman and Wonder Woman also spotted in STAR Labs at points in the marketing. With the continued #ReleaseTheSnyderCut efforts, it’s possible that we could be moments away from learning more about how this scene fits within Snyder’s larger plans.
