Justice League fan-art visualizes a “scary close” end of what would’ve been Zack Snyder’s trilogy. With more information pouring out two years after the Warner Bros. and DC movie hit theaters, the calls for the Snyder Cut thrive. As fans demand for the roll out of the said version of the film, others imagine how the filmmaker’s original plan was going to pan out, with the latest fan-art apparently getting a lot of details accurate.
By now, almost everyone already has an idea about the Release the Snyder Cut movement. While Snyder got the directing credit for Justice League, it was Joss Whedon who had the last say on its theatrical cut - manning extensive reshoots which effectively whittled down Snyder’s original plan. This didn’t go unnoticed when the movie hit cinemas, and shortly thereafter, the aforementioned petition for Warner Bros. to roll out the original cut of the film with Junkie XL’s (the initial composer before Danny Elfman stepped in) score was born. Over the course of the last two years, details about Snyder’s narrative started emerging online, giving one fan an idea to how his overall story might’ve ended.
Poula Essam on Twitter visualized what Snyder’s Justice League trilogy might’ve wrapped up based on what fans know about it thus far. The fan-art made its way to Snyder over at Vero thanks to Chris Wong-Swenson, and the filmmaker didn’t take long to respond saying that Essam’s work is scary close to what he had in mind for his DC story’s end. In the edit, the members of the League aside from Batman (but with Alfred) gather to meet Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill) and Lois Lane’s (Amy Adams) son at the Wayne Manor grounds. In the caption, the new baby is named after Bruce. Check out the image below, and Snyder’s comment.
Snyder originally hatched a five-part DCEU narrative which began with 2013’s Man of Steel and 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Justice League was supposed to be the mid-point of the over-arching story and was merely the first of the three planned ensemble films. Batman was going to be killed in the final film which would explain why the aforementioned fan-art doesn’t feature him. But with Snyder and Affleck long unattached to the DCEU while key actors such as Cavill and the rest bar Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa, it doesn’t seem that any thing remotely close to this story will still come to fruition in the revamped Warner Bros. superhero franchise.
While there’s slim to none chance that this narrative will ever be DCEU canon, that doesn’t mean that fans are no longer interested in seeing Snyder’s work, at least with Justice League. More and more people are boarding the Release the Snyder Cut movement with backing from cast members Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, as well as other prominent industry people rallying for the cause. Warner Bros., on the other hand, has remained mum throughout this whole time, with no indication whatsoever that they’re planning to heed to the calls. All that being said, with the campaign not showing any signs of letting up any time soon, it’s probably for the best to reconsider their options and just make the best out of the situation rather than fight it.
