A new Justice League image from Zack Snyder’s version of the film reveals Batman (Ben Affleck) looking for Aquaman (Jason Momoa). The conversation surrounding the Warner Bros. and DC film continues even after two years from its theatrical debut, thanks to the Release the Snyder Cut movement demanding Warner Bros. roll out the original cut of the film with Junkie XL’s (the initial composer before Danny Elfman stepped in) score. The latest detail to come out with regard to the much-clamored cut is a still from the original version of Bruce Wayne’s voyage to search for Arthur Curry.

From multiple script rewrites to studio-mandated two-hour runtime, Justice League went through a lot of hurdles, but nothing derailed it as much as the last-minute director switch between Snyder and Joss Whedon. This resulted in a truncated film highlighted with the director’s obvious contradicting creative style. It also didn’t help that reshoots reportedly had 80 script pages, with only 10% of Snyder’s work making into the big screen. Among the many scenes that were altered is the initial encounter between Bruce Wayne and Arthur Curry.

Justice League second unit director Clay Staub took to Twitter to share a still of Wayne during his journey to reach out to Arthur at the beginning of the film. The image features Affleck riding a horse as he’s scoping the area where Aquaman can supposedly be found. Check out the image below:

Only a portion of this scene was used in the theatrical version of Justice League, despite some unused footage being teased in trailers for the film. In fact, the whole Batman-Aquaman meeting scene was segmented in several different points. On top of that, parts of it were also reshot which was visibly obvious due to the poor VFX work on them. It’s unclear why there was a need to significantly alter this sequence. Perhaps it had to something with the Warner Bros. mandated two-hour runtime which explains why they needed to trim down the whole thing, although that doesn’t explain why pieces of it had to be reshot. In any case, the point is that it was heavily altered.

The continuous release of details and images with regard to the Snyder Cut will only motivate supporters of the cause to rally behind the cause. They’re backed up by cast members Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, not to mention other prominent industry people.  Snyder has also clarified matters when he confirmed that the cut exists, and he has proof of it which solidifies the ongoing movement. Word has it that Warner Bros. doesn’t have any plans to heed to the fans’ demand, however, if this continues, there will come a point that Warner Bros. will have to at least speak up about this.
