The Jurassic World ride at Universal Studios Hollywood is about to get even more immersive as Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are set to reprise their roles from the enormous sci-fi adventure franchise. Pratt, Howard, and B.D. Wong will play Owen Grady, Claire Dearing, and Dr. Henry Wu in a new and exclusive storyline for the upcoming attraction.

Almost three decades ago, when Steven Spielberg brought Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park to the screen, revealing what might happen if humans and dinosaurs coexisted, the art of filmmaking was changed forever. Pioneering CGI technology, spouting off memorable quotes, and possessing an iconic theme song, Jurassic Park was an instant blockbuster. The 1993 film spawned four sequels, including The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, Jurassic World, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - the latter of which grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. The highly-anticipated Jurassic World 3 is slated for a June release in 2021, but until then, fans can find themselves up close and personal with dinosaurs at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Modeled after one of the biggest film franchises of all time, Jurassic Park - The Ride operated from June 1996 to September 2018. Park officials announced on the 25th anniversary of the film’s release that a new attraction would commemorate the franchise’s success. According to a Universal Studios press release, the attraction will be an innovative adventure that combines 21st century technology with new dinosaurs from the latest Jurassic World films. Once guests pass through a queue, they will board rafts that will navigate through a lush environment of vegetation with towering dinosaurs close by. In an original storyline, the actors from the films will “shed light on their interactions with the dinosaurs along with facts and information about the imposing prehistoric creatures that first roamed the earth more than 65 million years ago.” However, mirroring the films, events will take a turn as the dinosaurs become vicious and predatory. Expectedly, the Tyrannosaurus rex will swoop in before guests plummet down an 84-foot waterfall.

Universal Studios has pulled out all the stops for the attraction to be as authentic as possible. Along with partnering with Industrial Light & Magic, the park also brought Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, and Frank Marshall on board to collaborate. Jurassic World - The Ride is more interactive than the original and features the iconic Jurassic World gates, illuminated with billowing flames. Riders will also be able to see the Mosasaurus in her natural habitat in a 3.5 million gallon water aquarium with lighting fixtures rigged to shift from day to night. Slated to open this summer, the theme park has kept the exact launch date for the attraction confidential.

California accommodates some of the most popular amusement parks in the world. Competition for patrons is fierce and has left a rivalry between Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood - a subject the original Jurassic Park ride touched on when it featured a floating Mickey Mouse hat in the water. The competition will be at its peak this summer as Disneyland opens its Star Wars: Galaxy Edge attraction. However, Universal Studios Hollywood has been the most evolved over the years with additions of Transformers: The Ride 3D, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and a new Secret Life Of Pets ride in the works. The upcoming Jurassic World Ride will no doubt be a mega success Universal Studios Hollywood and create more excitement for the Jurassic World franchise.
