Jurassic World 3 is officially bringing back the original Jurassic Park actors Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. Last year’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom continued the story that left off with Colin Trevorrow’s first Jurassic World movie from 2015, but this time taking the story away from the core Isla Nublar island and setting the franchise on a new path.

Audiences got a quick glimpse of that vision in this summer’s Jurassic World: Battle At Big Rock, an eight-minute short film that takes place one year after the events of Fallen Kingdom and shows how humans have begun to adapt to having dinosaurs out in the wild. That Jurassic World short film not only showed how things have fared for the dinosaurs but it also set the stage for Jurassic World 3, which is the third and final installment (as of now) in the Jurassic World series.

And now, to bring the new story to a close, original Jurassic Park actors Sam Neill (Dr. Alan Grant), Laura Dern (Dr. Ellie Sattler), and Jeff Goldblum (Dr. Ian Malcolm) are all set to reprise their roles in Jurassic World 3. Spielberg’s Amblin officially confirmed the news, though the announcement failed to mention if the roles will be cameos or something more.

What’s interesting is that this will mark the first time since Spielberg’s Jurassic Park released in 1993 that all three actors will appear together in a Jurassic Park movie. They were all in the first film, but only Goldblum returned for the sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, which released four years later. Then another four years after that, Neill and Dern reprised their roles for Jurassic Park 3 - but in that case, Dern only had a very brief park in the beginning and towards the end. It was really Neill’s movie to shine in.

Furthermore, Goldblum is the only one to have returned from the trio in the Jurassic World films, appearing in a small role in Fallen Kingdom. But he technically wasn’t the only actor from Spielberg’s epic to make the jump to the sequel trilogy, seeing as BD Wong has been instrumental in the creation of Jurassic World’s dinosaurs as Dr. Henry Wu. Of course, everything that’s transpired in the last two films will ultimately factor into Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler returning to the fold.

What they’ve both been up to all this time remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say that Dr. Grant’s apprehension to living dinosaurs will be the same. Also, considering that Jurassic World was meant to be a direct sequel to the first film, it’ll be intriguing to see how Trevorrow, along with fellow writers Emily Carmichael and Derek Connolly, manage to either work in her Jurassic Park 3 story arc (being married with a son) or retcon it.
