Expect dinosaurs to make a resurgence soon, because Jurassic World 3 director Colin Trevorrow has seemingly confirmed production on the final Jurassic World film will begin soon. It’s been two years since J.A. Bayona’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stormed onto the big screen, and while it wasn’t as big of a critical hit as Trevorrow’s franchise reboot Jurassic World, it still was a financial hit. The third film has been in the works for a while, but few developments have emerged in recent months. Now, with production starting up soon, a flurry of new announcements have been made.

Plot details have been kept closely under wraps, but it’s assumed Jurassic World 3 will pick up on the post-credits tease from Fallen Kingdom, which indicated dinosaurs have escaped into human society. The cast is filled with lots of familiar faces, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning for the third time. Additionally, original Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum will make appearances, and just last week, Jake Johnson and Omar Sy were confirmed to return for the first time since Jurassic World. Other returning cast members include Justice Smith and Daniella Pineda.

Last week, Pratt said filming for Jurassic Park 3 would begin soon, and Trevorrow has now backed that up. On Twitter, Trevorrow posted a picture of a dinosaur model with the message “Ready.” He didn’t give a specific timeline for the start of production, but it’s likely to be very soon. Check out his post below:

Last September, Universal started hyping Jurassic World 3 by releasing a short film set within the film’s universe, titled Battle at Big Rock. That film hinted at the conflict for Jurassic World 3, which seems to be about what happens when dinosaurs are released into the world. With Jurassic World 3 still more than a year out from release, more plot details will be revealed later on.

Jurassic World 3 is one of the most anticipated movies of 2021, especially since it’s expected to bring the trilogy to a close. This doesn’t necessarily mean there will never be another Jurassic film, seeing as in this day and age, no property is ever really gone. However, Jurassic World 3 will certainly close the door on this chapter of the story, and based on the amount of returning cast members, plus the heightened stakes of dinosaurs being out among humans, it’s shaping up to be a very exciting adventure. Hopefully Trevorrow will share more teases once production finally begins.
