Venom actor Scott Haze has joined the cast of Jurassic World 3. After passing the reins over to J.A. Bayona on 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Jurassic World director and series co-writer Colin Trevorrow is back at the helm for the third and final movie in his Jurassic Park sequel trilogy. The film has been scheduled to hit U.S. theaters in June 2021 for a while, but is currently gearing up to start production in the near future. Ahead of then, there’s been a recent wave of late-breaking casting announcements for the sequel.

Deadline is reporting Haze has joined the Jurassic World 3 cast in an as-yet unspecified role. In addition to playing the not-so-lucky Security Chief Roland Treece in Venom, Haze is known for his roles in director-driven productions like Jeff Nichols’ Midnight Special and James Franco’s Cormac McCarthy adaptation, Child of God. He will appear in a handful of films later this year, beginning with the Guillermo del Toro-produced monster thriller Antlers starring Keri Russell and Jesse Plemons in April.

Haze is costarring with fellow franchise newcomers Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise, and Dichen Lachman in Jurassic World 3, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard once again leading the charge as heroes Owen Grady and Claire Dearing. Also back for more are Jurassic World actors Jake Johnson and Omar Sy (who didn’t appear in Fallen Kingdom), and Justice Smith and Daniella Pineda as, respectively, IT tech Franklin Webb and paleoveterinarian Zia Rodriguez from Fallen Kingdom. Finally, Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum are reprising their iconic roles in Jurassic World 3, with Goldblum having previously played Ian Malcolm for a couple scenes in Fallen Kingdom. Overall, Trevorrow has assembled an impressive and diverse cast for what will hopefully be a strong finish to the Jurassic World trilogy.

Trevorrow is co-writing Jurassic World 3 with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising) and his longtime collaborator Derek Connolly. He has previously described the film as a “science thriller”, explaining “If I could contextualize each film, I would say Jurassic World was an action adventure, Fallen Kingdom is kind of a horror suspense film, and Jurassic World 3 will be a science thriller in the same way that Jurassic Park was”.
