The latest image from the Jurassic World 2 set offers a peek at some as-yet unborn dinosaurs in the film. Said Jurassic World sequel continues the Jurassic franchise revival that begin in 2015, thanks to Jurassic World co-writer/director Collin Trevorrow. That movie was a financial and critical success, ingeniously continuing the original series while setting itself apart as its own unique take on the world originally created by author Michael Crichton.
The upcoming Jurassic World sequel reunites stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard for another go-around dealing with troublesome dinosaurs. They’re joined by director J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls), who takes over helming responsibilities from Trevorrow, while the latter works on the final chapter of the third Star Wars trilogy. While Trevorrow may have his head in a galaxy far, far away, he hasn’t strayed too far from Isla Nublar; having co-written the Jurassic World 2 script with his writing partner, Derek Connolly. Trevorrow is also producing the Jurassic sequel, as his latest Twitter posting calls further attention to.
Trevorrow has tweeted out an intriguing new image from the Jurassic World 2 set (see the photo below), giving fans a small taste of what’s to come from the sequel. As the image suggests, humanity still hasn’t learned from its previous follies - as seven unidentified eggs are seen stored in what appears to be an incubation chamber. Though unlabeled, it’s probably safe to assume these aren’t intended for an omelet.

The image has been in line with what we’ve previously seen from the set of Jurassic World 2. Set photos have already shown that animatronic puppets will be used to supplement CGI images in the movie, and Bayona has been touting the skills of his puppeteering crew since production began. The egg image shows just how far they’re going to create a realistic world for the movie, as those could’ve easily been rendered digitally.
Tangibility has always been a hallmark of the best of the Jurassic Park movies. The original film famously showcased the then-novel capabilities of CGI effects, but the majority of the dino-action in the movie involved puppets in some capacity. Bayona has long been a proponent of using practical effects, and it’s nice to see that commitment being utilized in Jurassic World 2.
Plot details on Jurassic World 2 are being kept firmly under wrap, so it remains to be seen what direction the franchise will take from here. The film will be exploring themes of animal rights in some fashion, as the world begins to form a plan with how to deal with the (once again) loose dinosaurs in the movie. The film may also be expanding upon the dino-weapon themes introduced in Jurassic World.
Neither of the above ideas are mutually exclusive, of course. It could be that both theories plan into each other, with animal rights stemming from the attempted weaponization of the pre-historic killers. Either way, Bayona is certain to make it look amazing. A Monster Calls was a stunning looking film that showcased his talents at bringing fantastic imagery to life and Jurassic World 2 will, hopefully, follow suit in that respect.
