Jon Hamm is one of those actors who’s impossible to not like. Hamm got his big break on Mad Men, playing the brilliant, flawed, and mysterious advertising executive, Don Draper. While that is his most famous role, he has put together a pretty impressive film career as well.
Hamm has the leading-man talent but isn’t opposed to taking supporting roles in interesting projects. He is also an actor who seems comfortable in any genre. All this has helped Hamm appear in a number of films that have become audience favorites. Here are Jon Hamm’s best roles according to IMDb.
Howl (6.7)
Hamm has appeared in some high-profile films throughout his career, but he will sometimes take on smaller projects as well. Howl is a look at influential poet Alan Ginsberg (James Franco), his life, his art, and the controversy he encountered. Hamm plays a lawyer who defends Ginsberg’s work in an obscenity trial.
Though the small and unconventional film only reached a small audience, many found something interesting in the story. An all-star cast comes together to explore this important artist and Franco received praise for his lead performance. It seems to be a small project worth seeking out.
The A-Team (6.7)
The A-Team is yet another attempt to bring an iconic television show from the past back to life on the big screen. The film stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson as a group of soldiers framed for a crime and forced to go on the run. Hamm has a cameo as a shady government operative.
The film was a financial disappointment, but many fans found it to be a fun action-adventure. The cast proved to have solid chemistry together, the set-pieces were appropriately wild, and there was a lot of fun humor in the entertaining romp.
Bridesmaids (6.8)

The thriller set in the 60s finds a group of strangers spending a rainy night at a motel together and discovering each other’s various secrets. The twisting and complex story kept audiences on edge and entertained as the mystery unfolds. The stellar cast all seem to be having fun with their roles all leading to a wild climax.
The Report (7.2)
Hamm does not shy away from stories that might deal with difficult subject matter as is the case with the recent real-life drama, The Report. The film stars Adam Driver as a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, who spearheads an investigation into the United States’ use of torture in interrogations following the events of 9/11. Hamm plays real-life White House Chief of Staff, Denis McDonough.
Despite the uncomfortable subject matter, most audiences were fascinated by the incredible story of a search for accountability. Driver leads a stellar cast in the smart, thoughtful, and engrossing drama.
The Town (7.5)
Ben Affleck’s career as an actor has sometimes been hit or miss with fans but his work as a director seems to largely impress the general public. The Town was Affleck’s second feature as a director, in which he stars as a thief who leads a crew on several daring heists in Boston. Hamm plays the determined FBI agent hunting down the thieves.
The film cemented Affleck dams a director worth watching. The intense crime thriller depicted some incredible and grounded action sequences. Affleck made for a solid leading man with a great supporting cast backing him up. The movie earned its place among the greatest heist films ever made.
