Star of Jon & Kate Plus 8, Jon Gosselin says marriage with ex-wife Kate Gosselin never stood a chance - even without the show. The two have been at each other’s throats for some time now, with no ending in sight.
Jon and Kate rose to fame on their TLC show Jon & Kate Plus 8 that aired back in 2004 after the birth of their sextuplets, Hannah, Collin, Leah, Aaden, Alexis, Joel, and Leah. The six children joined their older twin sisters, Madelyn and Cara, their small Pennsylvania home. The reality couple divorced in 2010 after ten years of marriage and a rocky relationship with reality TV. Recently, Jon has made the papers by having accused his ex-wife of being emotionally abusive towards his children and forcing the eight kids to appear on the show, saying that his children have shown signs of trauma and his ex-wife has changed due to the fame.
Over the past couple of years, the deejay has tried to make amends with his children for what they had to witness while he and his wife were separating. Gosselin made an appearance on The Dr. Oz Show last week, speaking out about his relationship with his ex-wife. The two have been broken up for a decade but are still dealing with the aftermath of their anger towards one another. On the show, Jon revealed (via People) that he and his wife have no relationship, saying, “We don’t talk, nothing. The only time I see my ex-wife is in court, because we’ve exhausted all opportunities to co-parent. It’s just never going to happen, due to personality disorders and everything else. We just have different aspects on how we want to parent.”
The reality star went on to say that his ex-wife had a personality disorder and due to that infliction, they both parent differently. Dr. Oz asked Jon to elaborate on the term personality disorder. The TLC alum then said that he genuinely believed his ex-wife had a narcissistic personality disorder but acknowledged he has his own problem with being passive-aggressive. Kate, who usually does not respond to Jon’s accusations, released a statement saying that her ex-husband had “delusional ramblings” and will present the truth soon enough.
While Kate won primary custody of the eight children, two, Collin and Hannah, chose to live with their father. Collin had been the subject of recent tabloids after he accused his mother of locking him away in a special needs facility for two years and not coming to visit him. Jon still sticks with his belief that their marriage would have ended eventually even if they were not on Jon & Kate Plus 8 due to marrying at the age of 22. The young age and alleged personality disorders were no match for the overwhelmed parents.
