The star of Jon & Kate Plus 8’s Jon Gosselin claims fame “warped” his ex-wife, Kate’s beliefs. Jon has been worried that she’s become an “unfit mother” and is worried about how his children are fairing under their mother’s care and would like someday to have full custody of all of them.
Jon and Kate Gosselin rose to fame on their TLC show Jon and Kate Plus Eight that aired back in 2004 after the birth of their sextuplets, Hannah, Collin, Leah, Aaden, Alexis, Joel, and Leah. The six children joined their older siblings, Madelyn and Cara, who are twins in their Pennsylvania home. The reality couple divorced in 2010 after ten years of marriage. Recently, Jon has made the papers by having accused his ex-wife of being emotionally abusive towards his children, saying that his children have shown signs of trauma and his ex-wife has changed.
Even ten years of separation can not tame the two ex-lovers from arguing with one another. The couple’s gag order on their divorce had been recently lifted, and Jon was quick to open up about new issues regarding his ex-wife. E! reported that Jon spoke with Dr. Oz and revealed that fame had changed Kate for the worse and as a result, has impacted her children and her ability to parent. The celebrity DJ was asked by the doctor if he felt Kate is an unfit mother. Jon’s reply was, “Well, I believe that her belief system is skewed.” Jon continued, “That’s what I believe. I believe her intentions in the beginning were good intentions. Bringing kids into the world that she fought to have these kids.” The father of eight then said, “But I think once fame and money got involved, it twisted her belief system. On my end, I’ve been fighting to get my kids off TV forever.”
The father of eight said he believed that in the beginning when the show was still in its baby phase that her intentions may have been good. Jon had never been a firm believer that TV was a good idea and has been fighting for the past couple of years to have his children removed from the hit TLC show. Jon also said that he has wanted custody because he assumed that he could protect his children from the spotlight and said that Kate wanted to keep custody because the kids help to sustain her fancy lifestyle.
Currently, Jon has full custody of two of his children, Hannah and Collin. Both children voiced that they wanted to live with their father while the twins and the rest of the sextuples continue to live with Kate in their family home. Fans wonder if their marriage would have stayed intact if they had never agreed to film the TLC show, but Jon said that their marriage would have ended either way due to a difference in personalities, acknowledging that Kate had some personality disorders that he was not aware of until the cameras started rolling. The hatred of fame was what ultimately led Jon to leave the network and walk away from Jon and Kate Plus 8. To Jon, fame, and money was not worth the exploitation of his children.
